Moroto High Court Circuit holds RCC Meeting

On Thursday May 16,2024, Moroto High Court Circuit in partnership with UNICEF, Justice for Children Programme under the Ministry of Justice & Constitutional Affairs held a Regional Chain-linked Committee which majorly focused on Children Justice and was attended by representatives of justice institutions with a regional mandate.
The meeting which was chaired by the Court's Assistant Registrar, HW Mubiru Nassif Umar on behalf of the Resident Judge Justice Ikit Mary, resolved to strengthen coordination among justice actors in the region, conduct regular RCC & DCC meetings, conduct of juvenile cases in the presence of probation officers and availability of social inquiry reports, follow up on child offenders in prisons, before court martial and construction of a remand home at Moroto.
The other concerns raised were delayed criminal investigations and the absence of a remand home in the entire region.
In attendance; Chief Magistrates of Moroto and Kotido, GI Magistrates in the region, area Chief for UNICEF, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Moroto, District Police Commander, Moroto Regional Prisons Commander. The others included advocates and officers from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Justice for Children, Probation Welfare office, among others.
